Moshe Helmond (1907 - 1973) was born in Ukraine. He made a living as a teacher and was among the organizers of the "Young Workers" literary group in Minsk (1925). During World War II he moved to Dagestan.
In addition to his poems, the book also includes translations by Pushkin and other writers, Moldovan folklore and Glossary with Judeo-Tat words (Mountain Jews jargon).
